NSW: Fire fighters battle blaze at Sydney paper mill

SYDNEY, April 2 AAP - Fire fighters were battling to extinguish a large fire burning in a
paper mill in southern Sydney this afternoon, a New South Wales Fire Brigade spokesman said.

Inspector Ian Krimmer said the fire at Australian Paper Mills in Botany Road, Matraville,
started around 11.45am (AEST).

Insp Krimmer said the fire started on a conveyor belt leading into a dryer and while the
fire was putting up a lot of smoke, it was under control.

But he said the fire's awkward position made it difficult to extinguish.

Officers suspect the blaze may have been deliberately lit.
