NSW: $70 bn earmarked for NSW infrastructure
New South Wales Treasurer MICHAEL EGAN says around $70 billion is likely to be spenton building schools, hospitals and roads in the state over the next decade.
The New South Wales government today released a 10-year infrastructure plan outlining300 economic, environmental and social capital works worth more than $20 million each.
The 218-page document spells out an array of infrastructure projects such as the LongBay prison hospital redevelopment, the extension of the M4 East freeway and the upgradeof sewage treatment plants across Sydney.
However, Mr EGAN warns the plan isn't a list of government promises.
He says just because a project's been factored into the infrastructure plan doesn'tnecessarily mean it will be completed.
Instead, the plan's a tool to inform the community, and public and private sectorsof the government's infrastructure targets.
