Fed: Housing cost inquiry should be broader - Democrats

The Australian Democrats say an inquiry announced today into housing affordabilityfor first home buyers should be wider in scope.

Democrats Leader ANDREW BARTLETT says the inquiry by the Productivity Commission iswelcome, but it should be looking at housing affordability for everybody, not just firsthome buyers.

Senator BARTLETT also says the terms of the inquiry announced by Treasurer PETER COSTELLOdon't focus on the major problem, which is the role of investors in driving up prices.
